Congratulations to Ann and Nina for paintings from the Wildcat Windows in 300 W 6th Street. Ann sold TWO and Nina sold one. We are SO proud. The paintings will be up for a while and hopefully the girls will be able to replace them with more fabulous paintings. We look forward to more sales for everyone.

Directions to 300 West Street

The address of the building is 300 West 6th. There are two entrances to the parking garage in my building. One is on Lavaca just past 6th Street for those of you coming in from the South. The other is on 7th Street coming in from Guadalupe for those of you coming from the North. Park in Visitor Parking, which starts on the 5th floor. The artwork is in the elevator lobbies on the 3rd through 7th floors.

How many artists does it take to hang a painting? We are officially up and displayed at 300 West Sixth Street. Garage elevators on floors 3 - 7. They will be there for approximately 2 months. You must go by and see them if you haven't already.

The Substitute
Crap, how long has it been? It must be almost time by now. The stool wasn't this hard when I started. Must be the way the edge is cutting into my leg. I sure wish that model had shown up. Bad idea, don't think about her. Breathe. Stare at that spot in the carpet. Did I just move my hand? (*muffled curse*) I guess I did. Do I move back now, or leave it as it is? Maybe if I try moving it back slowly...nope, that's not going to work, better leave it as it is. If I take art classes for the rest of my life, I will never complain about a model again. Why did I pick this pose? Give them some interesting angles, he said. This will be good foreshortening, he said. Sure - Mr. Model here, thinks he's a twenty-year-old. How come I sound Jewish all of the sudden? Funny, you don't look...ha. ha. You're a real comedian - jerk. What would you call this pose, anyway? Geezer with a stick? I'll have plenty of time to think about that. I won't be able to get out of this position until Tuesday. They'll have to call the EMT's to get my pants back on. How do real models do this without seeming to breathe? My chest is heaving up and down, they must be getting seasick looking at me. Where did that spot go? I've been looking at it so long it disappeared. Look at something else. Not at her. Now that leg's shaking again. Relax. That's it. Breathe in. Hold it. Breathe out. Again. That's better. I'm sweating up a storm. How can it be so hot under this light? Why did I volunteer for this? How long has it been now? Sure wish that model had shown up. Crap...

Written by Clay: The wildcat painters were born on the sunny hillsides of Provence, during a plein air painting workshop led by artist and author Ian Roberts. We are the students of Elizabeth Locke, dedicated painters of various styles and subject matters, brought together by a common passion for self-expression. The Wildcats name was given to us by Ian's stepsister Christine, after a particularly challenging day of painting, when we were extracting everything possible from a lesson Ian was teaching us. Together we have nearly a century of painting: mastering color, composition and drawing, always drawing. Beyond the mechanics, we are dedicated to extracting the beauty of everyday scenes, the meaning of familiar experiences and the significance of those around us. We invite you to join us on our exploration. Take a few minutes, travel with us to Provence, around Austin and to our own back yards. See what we see in this wonderful world.
